Local Scientology
Mission Holder honored
by Acadiana newspaper
Local Scientology Mission Holder has been honored by The Daily Advertiser
of Acadiana which celebrated Women's History Month in March 2007 by recognizing
31 women who are changing
the history of the community. Marie was one of these women so honored.

Marie
Pace began her affiliation with Scientology in
the 1980s, when she was introduced to Dianetics
and the religion it is based on, founded in the
1960s by the late science fiction novelist L.
Ron Hubbard.
Her involvement
in the community includes: Opening Applied Scholastics
Lafayette in 1991. The nonprofit agency is devoted
to teaching parents, students and educators how to
learn without the use of drugs, labeling and memorization.
The foundation of her teaching is Study Technology,
developed by Hubbard.
The experience
led Pace to open the Scientology Mission of Lafayette
four years later. The first mission of its kind in
Acadiana, the local Scientology Mission on Huggins
Road, offers various techniques developed by Hubbard
and taught across the globe in various Scientology
churches.
Pace also hosts
Solutions for Acadiana, a weekly talk show on KPEL
105.1 FM that focuses on "real solutions" for
life, the mind, relationships and education.
In her own words
on Women's History Month: "My philosophy for
women in Acadiana is in agreement with L. Ron Hubbard
when he stated, 'The biggest right there is is not
the right to vote, is not the right to freedom of
speech, or press, or religion or anything else. The
biggest right there is in human rights is the right
to help.' "

Hurricane Katrina
hit Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama on August 29,
2005. Tremendous damage was done particularly to the City
of New
Orleans and many hundred of thousands were left homeless.
Communities across the region were in desperate need of
help and many others
pitched in to help those most effected. Many evacuees
were coming to the Lafayette and Vermillion Parish areas,
taxing
the resources of these communities. At the request of
government officials, Marie Pace (Mission Holder of the
Scientology Mission
of Lafayette) brought together a team of Volunteer Ministers
that stepped in and did a remarkable job for the community.
Over the ensuing days Scientology Volunteer Ministers
were activated within the State of Louisiana and also came
to Louisiana
from many parts of the United States to join Marie’s
team.
During the initial phases of the Hurricane Katrina relief
efforts, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers (or VM’s)
were responsible for setting up and completely running
5 shelters for hurricane
evacuees, primarily from New Orleans.
On September 24 Hurricane Rita came ashore at the Texas/Louisiana
border and directly affected areas where the Lafayette
Mission had been operating evacuee shelters for Hurricane
Katrina.
The area for which the Lafayette Mission had been responsible,
quickly turned from a secondary evacuee support site
to a primary hurricane disaster area. The VM’s
performed outstanding and highly acknowledged VM work
in this area. Once again creating
and running 4 more shelters.
The local Scientology Mission received numerous commendations
and accolades from government officials and community leaders.
You are welcome to read these and see photographs of the activities
of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers.
